Template:Infobox character series Yuzuha Usagi (宇佐木 柚葉 Usagi Yuzuha) is one of the main characters in Alice in Borderland.

She is portrayed by Tao Tsuchiya.

Appearance and Personality

Due to her experience with mountain climbing, Usagi appears to have a rather muscular body and great physical endurance. She still trains to maintain her physical ability by running. She often encourages her comrades and is strong both physically and mentally. Alongside her strength, she's rather smart and easily picks up on most of Arisu's plans and ideas. She can go alone independently but also can work as a team.

History

Before the Games

Usagi was the daughter of a famous mountain climber in Japan and often came with him whenever he went on trips to the mountains. But after being accused of faking his hike on Mount Everest, he allegedly committed suicide after telling Usagi he's going to hike. Usagi initially felt like a wreck, but secretly promised her father that she'll survive when in the borderland.

Throughout the Series

Usagi first appears in Episode 2 during the Five of Spades game. She is seen as a key player and helps out greatly to clear the game, using her mountain climbing skills in order to reach the safe room as quickly as possible.

After the Seven of Hearts game, she runs into Arisu on the road and initially didn't help him. Eventually, she took pity on him when he stayed lying down when it was raining heavily and rescued him. She praised his way of handling the Five of Spades game and encouraged him to live by saying "I don't want you to die.". Together, they clear the Four of Clubs game.

Usagi and Arisu find out about the Beach and attempt to collect information from other players in order to reach the location. However, they are kidnapped by the Beach executives themselves and are forced to give their cards to the Hatter.

While Aguni is elected as the Beach's new leader, Usagi and Arisu are dragged into a plan to steal all of the playing cards under Chishiya's direction. They later find out that the plan was a hoax, and Arisu is kidnapped while Usagi stopped Niragi from raping her by biting his tongue.

During the Witch Hunt Game (Ten of Hearts), Usagi finds out where Arisu is, after embracing him, she helps him out of the tape and rope. She assists him in figuring out who the true witch is. She helps him reach the main room to inform the other players of his ideas, however, they are both hit several times by Aguni whilst he tries to convince them that he is the witch. When Niragi started his shooting spree, Usagi tried to stopped him with Arisu but failed. The players eventually team up to put a stop to Aguni's violent actions and successfully move Momoka's body to the Fire of Judgement after finding out she is the true witch, resulting in a Game Clear. In the end, the building goes down in flames.

Usagi and Arisu discover a video that Asahi took that showed what appeared to be the Dealers' headquarters hidden away in a subway station. They meet up with Chishiya and Kuina, and the group proceeds to find the remaining face cards as the next stage commences.

Etymology

• The name Yuzuha means "grapefruit, pomelo, citrus fruit" (柚) (yuzu) and "leaf" (葉) (ha).
• Yuzuha's surname Usagi means "eaves, roof, house, heaven" (宇) (u), "help, aid" (佐) (sa) and "tree, wood" (木) (ki/gi).
