Wristbands or Bracelets (腕輪, Udewa) are devices that appear in the Alice in Borderland series. They are used as part of the necessary equipment in certain games.
Overview[]
Wristbands are large items fitted tightly on players' wrists during the games. They consist of a self-locking mechanism and a small screen to display important information. Removing the wristband is not possible without getting injured.
In the manga, the bracelet screens are split into a few sections, and each of them can only fit a number or a name. In the Netflix live-action, the screens are physically solid.
King of Clubs[]
During the "Osmosis" game, the wristbands are used to display the result of a battle between two players, which gets initiated upon physical contact and ends with adding or deducting points from the winner and the loser accordingly.
In the Netflix live-action, the content on the wristband screen is split into two halves, each of the halves containing the player name, the number of points, and the battle result (WIN or LOSE), which appears part by part with a beep. In the manga, the battle result is omitted, and the rest of the information is evenly split between the sections on the wristband. The winner is announced via a small speaker inside the wristband, which also makes beeping noises after the battle is over.
Future Sugoroku[]
Wristbands in "Future Sugoroku"
During the game featuring the participants' possible futures, players equip wristbands and collars before they are instructed to find an exit from the venue. The wristbands display the map of the building, shown as a grid of 25 squares, as well as the number of points each player has left. The devices serve as proof of participation; even if a collar cannot be equipped on a player's neck, they still receive a wristband with the same number of points and can still die if their point count reaches zero.
Points are deducted from the wristbands in various situations: opening a door by holding the wristband up to it, staying in a locked room, or entering a room with a penalty. When multiple people are in a penalty room, the display on the wristbands allows one of the players to press the button if they volunteer to be the one losing the points.
Due to the necessity for the players to communicate while split into different rooms, the wristbands are also equipped with microphones.
