Alice in Borderland Wiki

The Two of Clubs (クラブの2, Kurabu no Ni), also known as "Hunting Competition" (借り物競走, Karimono Kyousou), is a game featured in Episode 5 of Alice in Borderland.

As a Clubs challenge, the game requires players to balance each other's strengths and weaknesses and work as a team.

Overview[]

The rules are not stated and thus the exact method of winning or losing, as well as any strategies, is unknown. However, the game involves running around the large power plant in search for something unrevealed to the viewers. While the players are looking for the unknown, there is a beeping emergency sound in the background, contributing to the participants' anxiety.

The players enter the game venue as a big group but quickly split up in duos and trios in order to work more efficiently in the given circumstances.

Shota never stops looking at his phone while running along the corridors, Yui is shown exhausted from too much physical activity, and Tamotsu, sweating and enraged from confusion, exclaims, "Come on, where are you?!" (もう どこにいんだよ!, Mou doko ni in da yo!).

It is unclear how many players survive the game, however, some of them later appear during the "Witch Hunt", which indicates their success in the "Hunting Competition".

Trivia[]

  • The name "Hunting Competition" comes from the English subtitles. In the English dub, the game is called "Borrowed Time". However, both options are localization choices rather than direct translations, because the direct translation of 借り物競走 would be "Borrowed Item Race".
  • This game is shown in the Episode 5 montage.
  • This game is one of three number card games exclusive to the Netflix adaptation (with the other two being Two of Spades and Ten of Clubs).
  • The difficulty of the game is actually never stated, but the montage only features the games that have not been cleared by the Beach yet.
