"If you're just going to ask questions... Figure it out YOURSELF!!"
—Shibuki screaming at Arisu

Saori Shibuki (紫吹 小織 Shibuki Saori?) is a player in Alice in Borderland.

Appearance[]

Saori is a young lanky woman. She has light, wavy hair and black eyes. She wears formal clothes: a white shirt with a V neckline, and a blouse on top of that. She's also wearing a longer skirt with a white belt. There's also a necklace around her neck.

Personality[]

In the manga, Shibuki was shown to be blunt and impatient yet quite pragmatic. When first meeting the trio in the Three of Clubs, she was initially very disdained at the fact that she would have to work with high schoolers on their first game, but her cooperation with Karube carried the group.

She showed great compassion towards the group, and the four of them grew quite close during their few days together. She naturally cared a lot about the well-being of others, having been genuinely worried about Chouta’s injury and the Three of Clubs game. In the first few chapters, her role within the group was to provide insight about the Borderlands. She didn’t have a specified specialty, but it likely would’ve been Clubs.

However, she was emotionally weak, just like Chouta. Her Two of Hearts game completely wrecked her mentally, and the build up of her emotional trauma caused her to become snappy at Arisu and Karube near the end of her visa. But in the Seven of Hearts game, she had the courage and selflessness to stand down from Arisu’s offer, and die to let him, someone she barely knew, live on for her.

History[]

2 of Hearts[]

That game was cleared by Saori on her first day of sojourn. In this game, she met 2 other Borderlanders. Since the rules said that a train can not have more than 1 person in it, they all split up in different trains. No one wanted to risk their life, so they put the oxygen masks walking in the first 2 doors. Shibuki, that's will to live was very weak, opened the 3rd door without a mask. Luckily, it was not poisoned. The 2 men, whomever, risked it and put a cylinder on. She was the only one to survive this game.

3 of Clubs[]

Just before the game start she stopped Karube before he could pass the exit to save him. After the start, she was talking to herself and completely ignoring Arisu's questions. Even she she finally spoke to the boys, she didn't really explain the game, as she just said that the game should be easy if they work together. Then when she wanted to draw her fortune, Arisu started asking her again about the games, which caused her to shout at him. When Chota was trying to solve his question, she got a question from Karube, but she didn't respond clearly to it. After he got the question wrong, she claimed to understand the rules and what's going to happen when the lanterns go out. She got the question wrong, and 420 flaming arrows soon appeared. Nothing happened to her. The last one that drew a fortune was Arisu, and he purposely said the wrong answer. Yet they found the bunker and survived the game.

While going to the hospital, she told her new companions what she knew about the Borderlands. When they got there, she helped Chota, saying that she only read about it in books.

Second Day of Arisu's Sojourn[]

In this day, Saori went fishing with Karube. Soon, Chota and Arisu joined them. They caught a bike seat twice, which made Arisu and Chota laugh at them. After fishing, while their preys were cooking, Karube wanted to go to a game with her and Arisu. But she protested, and stayed with Chota instead.

After the game, they found both of them alive. While Chota was crying and hugging Arisu, Shibuki helped Karube walking, since he had a deep wound.

Third Day of Arisu's Sojourn[]

Shibuki found some clean clothes, and just when she wanted to change, Chota came in. He quickly left and apologized, and after she changed, she told him about her first game. Later on, they found Karube and Arisu, and disapproved their behavior, since they left injured Chota alone. She convinced him that they are not good friends.

Seven of Hearts[]

Shibuki breaking down

Shibuki's and Chota's visa was about to end, so they all decided to play the next game together. They were surprised by the big game venue, but didn't think much about it. When they went in, Shibuki already got nervous when they told them, that the game difficulty is 7 of Hearts. Her feelings got worse when everyone realized, that only one person can survive. She called this game ridiculous, since the wolf is the one that should hide. But when Arisu passed the wolf to her, she ran away, suddenly wanting to live. Karube found her, and threatened her with an axe to open her eyes. She didn't want to, so he started choking her, thinking that if she dies one of them will become the next wolf. Protecting herself, she hit him with his axe.

When Arisu withdrawed and wanted to pass the Wolf, Shibuki at first started walking to him. But she understood that she can't shoulder the burden of all of these lives. She gave up and died.
