The "Sacred Fortunes" (おみくじ, Omikuji) is a game featured in Episode 1-2 (Season 3) of Alice in Borderland.
Players have to draw ten fortune slips and decipher the messages.
Overview[]
Set-Up[]
- Location: Hikawa Shrine
- Player Limit: 21
- Time Limit: One minute per draw
Rules[]
- Players have to draw ten fortune slips and test their luck.
- Each person may only draw a slip once.
- If the question on the fortune slip is answered incorrectly, fire arrows are shot; one for each margin of error in the player's calculation.
- It is GAME CLEAR if the players decipher the sacred fortune slips and manage to survive.
- It is GAME OVER if the players fail to draw all the slips and decipher the messages in the given timeframe, or if all the players are killed during the game.
Details[]
There are multiple food stalls to hide behind. Players can get one out of 90 possible fortunes.
Solution[]
Keeping in mind all the previous details, Arisu realizes that the directions mentioned in the fortunes match the directions the arrows come from. Northwest is the only direction not mentioned, which is why it is the safest one. By the northwest entrance, there is a well, which leads to a secret tunnel and allows the players to escape the game venue.
Strategy[]
- Players can hide behind the food stalls.
- For multiple-choice questions, players may choose middle options because, if the correct answer is unknown, these choices reduce the possible margin of error and therefore lower the penalty.
- Helping each other answer questions is optimal, as it may increase everyone's chances of survival.
- Players can stall taking a fortune, therefore having more time to search for the exit, as there is only a time limit for answering fortunes, not taking them.

Trivia[]
- おみくじ (omikuji) are fortune slips drawn at shrines and temples. They can predict different levels of luck — from Great Blessing (大吉, Daikichi) down to Great Evil (大凶, Daikyō).
- The game follows the original Three of Clubs game from the manga, however, Arisu is the only character who appears in both versions. Questions asked from Chota and Shibuki in the original are given to the Misa and to Natsu respectively.
- The game venue takes place inside Nagata Shrine, located in the Hyōgo Prefecture.
