Alice in Borderland Wiki

Natsu (ナツ, Natsu) is a supporting character in Season 3 of Alice in Borderland. She is part of Arisu's Team. She is portrayed by Sakura Kiryu.

Appearance[]

Natsu is a young woman with short, straight, dark hair and bangs. Her hair is partly dyed with light blonde highlights at the front. She is dressed in a cropped textured light-blue jacket over a dark blue crop top and high-waisted striped trousers. She wears layered necklaces and purple flower-shaped earrings.

History[]

Prior to her arrival at the Borderland, Natsu was a novice dancer. She was a victim of the Tokyo Meteorite Disaster and later received a Joker card from Banda through a near-death experience. Same as the other participants of the Joker Tournament, Natsu had played the games before, making her Sojourn in Season 3 a return to the Borderland rather than her first visit.

Story[]

As Arisu walks into the shrine's territory, he sees 20 other participants, including Natsu.

After the rules of the "Sacred Fortunes" game are explained, Shion repeats the part about "survive to the end" and wonders whether they will die if they give a wrong answer, but Natsu laughs and brushes off the idea.

Sachiko draws the third fortune and reads the probability question, and Natsu assumes the answer should be 183. Neither this nor the next few answers ends up being correct, so the venue is attacked over and over. After the seventh draw, Natsu witnesses a player burning alive very close to her and feels mortified.

By the ninth round, Natsu removes her top and walks towards the fortunes, determined to draw a great one. She draws "Small Blessing" (小吉, Shōkichi) and is ready to give up, but Shion supports her. The question she gets surprises everyone: "Milk is made from nutrients in a cow's blood. How many liters of blood are needed to make one liter of milk?" Kazuya starts yelling at her to give the answer quickly, but Natsu is absolutely clueless. He urges her to guess, and she assumes it is two liters. The correct answer is 450 liters, so 448 flaming arrows are launched towards the players. One of them hits Shion in the leg, but Tetsu quickly pulls her away to help, and Natsu watches them in panic, apologizing to Shion.

After Arisu draws the last fortune and answers incorrectly, Natsu shockingly states that 100 million arrows are flying towards them. Arisu starts looking for an escape route and asks everyone for the unlucky directions they had on their slips. Eventually, the players figure out the safe zone of the venue and rush towards the exit, which ends up blocked by lasers. While everyone panics, Kazuya and Masato help Arisu lift up a stone to unlock the way into an underground tunnel. Then they all jump down and reach a notice congratulating them on clearing the game. Another noticeboard they bump into when they are out instructs them to proceed 17 km northeast, because the next game starts the next day at sundown. Natsu wonders what happens if they refuse to go, but Arisu pessimistically states that they cannot escape the games. Walking slightly further, they see multiple blimps holding a massive Joker card.

Having found a shelter, the group relaxes. Natsu finds a cane and gives it to Shion. They build a relationship of trust, and Natsu starts calling her "big sister". Looking at their own Joker cards, everyone realizes that they received them from the same man while having a near-death experience. Natsu reveals that, for her, the games happened at Shibuya, and she does not wish to remember them.

By sundown the next day, the players reach the National Institute of Virus Research and enter the game venue, where they see eight more participants. They listen to the rules, and the "Zombie Hunt" game begins.

Natsu teams up with Masato for the first few rounds of mini-games and wins at least one of them. After Arisu explains the rules and consequences of the Joker Tournament, Natsu is surprised. What shocks her even more is when Arisu brings two women along and claims that they have been turned into zombies. Kazuya wishes to eliminate them but Rei introduces her plan to survive without the need to kill anyone.

While the information about Rei's strategy is shared between various players on different floors, Natsu brings the news to her teammates that one person, exposed as a zombie, has already fallen from a Shotgun card.

Natsu is present when Nobu is tasked with killing another player, while Arisu is punched. She stays in the common room, observing the situation, and witnesses the shift when Ikeno orders the group to start hunting down the players who might be hiding their Zombie cards. She, Shion, and Sachiko find a secluded spot to stay off the radar.

Later, Nobu joins them and explains Arisu's plan: ensure they are all zombies because the zombies are going to win. While Nobu is running and searching for Tetsu, he is chased by another participant. Natsu waits at the top of a staircase and trips the man as he runs past, shouting at Nobu that there is no time left and he needs to hurry.

The game ends, and Natsu and the others survive. When Rei appears on the upper floor, Natsu invites her to join their group. Then they all leave the venue and see another noticeboard with directions to a new game two days later. They find a quiet, safe place to get some rest, and Shion brushes Natsu's hair, for which Natsu calls her "big sister". Then Natsu notices that Arisu is not sleeping, and Shion assumes that he is thinking about his wife.

Natsu and the other members of Arisu's team participate in the "Runaway Train". Their train approaches the end of the line, and an announcement instructs the players to stop it. Arisu decides to pull a lever, but it turns out to be an accelerator, so he pulls another one. However, it is too late, and the train crashes, leaving everyone with injuries of varying severity.

Having reached safety, everyone is worried about Arisu's well-being because he took the biggest hit. His wounds are bleeding, and he is unconscious. While the others try to convince Tetsu to save him, Natsu brings clean towels, water, alcohol, and a sewing kit from a store. Rei questions her plan but Natsu insists that this is all she could find. Tetsu agrees and patches Arisu's wound.

When Arisu wakes up the next morning, everyone rushes towards him to see how he is feeling.

The next game they join, a semi-final challenge, is called "Kick the Can". While listening to the game rules, Natsu stretches her arms, preparing for the battle. During Round 2, Rei runs along the hallway chased by another player when she spots Natsu, who calls for her and encourages her to pass the can. They struggle against other players, one of whom kicks Natsu in the stomach, but eventually Natsu manages to grab the can and toss it to Shion, urging her to escape. As revealed later, the attempt was futile.

Natsu realizes that Shion is gone

After Sachiko clears the game, Natsu and Shion pick up the next can and rush to return it to the base. Natsu gets jumped and pinned down by a male participant, so she gives the can to Shion and tells her to move forward. A few minutes later, Natsu hears an explosion and comes to the main room, only to find Shion's clothes and realize that she is gone. Since Shion exploded along with a male participant, the man's girlfriend finds his necklace and shows it to Natsu as an explanation for why she is going to fight fiercely against her.

During the next few rounds, Natsu uses her athletic skills to help the others clear the game by passing the can to Nobu, who then throws it to Tetsu and Rei. With three cans left, Natsu decides to win for Shion's sake. She finds the can and runs back, but a skilled female player interferes once again and kicks her. Then she pretends to offer Natsu the can only to punch her in the face and slam her head against the floor. While they are fighting, the can keeps changing hands, so the time limit on the bomb repeatedly goes down. Natsu bites the girl to gain an advantage, then kicks her and escapes. However, two more players stop her, and the timer reaches zero, so all of them explode.
