The "Future Sugoroku" (ミライすごろく, Mirai Sugoroku), also known as "Possible Futures", is a game featured in Episode 5-6 (Season 3) of Alice in Borderland.
Players have to roll the dice to unlock rooms and exit the venue. The game is introduced as the final challenge of the Joker Tournament.
Overview[]
Set-Up[]
- Location:
- Player Limit: Ten
- Time Limit: 15 turns
- Starting Condition: Each player receives 15 points
- Starting Items: Wristbands and collars
Rules[]
- There are a total of 25 rooms arranged in five rows and five columns.
- Players have to roll the dice onto the raised platform at the center of the room. The numbers rolled determine how many people can advance to each of the next rooms. This action is repeated as the participants try to reach the exit within 15 turns.
- If there are more people than the numbers rolled, the excess individuals cannot leave the room. The doors are locked, forcing them to stay. To lift the lockdown, two players have to move to positions on either side of the room and use their wristbands.
- Wristbands can be utilized to communicate with other participants.
- Each player is allocated 15 points. The number of points is displayed on the wristband along with the schematics of the venue.
- One point is deducted for opening each door.
- One point is deducted for each round spent in the locked room.
- One point is deducted for each round spent in the same room by choice.
- In order to open a door, a player has to hold their wristband up to it.
- In order to return to the previous room, a player has to remain in the current one until the end of the turn.
- The walls through which players can proceed display images of their future. The one the players pick is the future that will come to pass once they exit the game.
- It is GAME CLEAR if the player finds the exit.
- It is GAME OVER if the player runs out of points.
Details[]
- Certain rooms have a penalty. Entering such a room prompts the system to remove a number of points from a player's wristband. The amount varies from one room to another. However, when there are two or more players, the players can choose who loses the points.
- Since it is not possible to return to the previous room without waiting one turn, there are three or two dice instead of four in the next rooms.
- When a player is forced to stay in a room, the lights turn red, multiple variations of the future begin flickering, and screeching sound effects play, causing headaches and confusion.
Solution[]
The exit is in room A5.
Strategy[]
- Teaming up with other participants would help find the right path to the exit. However, players would eventually need to split up or stay behind due to the uncertainty of the dice rolls.
- The exit is likely located in one of the corner rooms, making it optimal for players to split up and search each corner.

Trivia[]
- The game is new to the story and has no prototype in the original manga series.
- "すごろく" (sugoroku) is a traditional Japanese dice-based board game. The name literally means "double sixes" (from dice).
- The GAME CLEAR condition is not directly stated by the game announcement, but the rules instruct the players to "reach the exit room" multiple times. From this wording, reaching A5 can be understood as clearing the game, and this is supported by the fact that all wristbands and collars unlock and fall off at that moment.
- However, the subsequent announcement that requires the players to roll the dice again in order to leave the venue, followed by the final message declaring Arisu to be the only player who has cleared the game, creates a contradiction and leaves the true outcome open to interpretation.
- The game rules explicitly state that the futures chosen by the players will truly come to pass once the participants reach the exit. However, the show never reveals whether this actually happens.
