Episode 3 Season 3 is the third episode of the third season of Alice in Borderland and the nineteenth episode of the series overall.
Synopsis[]
As Rei's plan unravels, Arisu takes a risky move to keep his team alive. On a separate stage, Usagi and Ryuji face a relentless barrage of lasers.
Plot[]
Masato is revealed to be infected, and Ikeno demands to know who gave him a Zombie card. He then instructs Nobu to kill the person, but Tetsu and Arisu attempt to defend him. Arisu insists that nobody has to be forced to murder anyone, and Ikeno punches him in the stomach while the others hold him down. He then threatens to kill Masato if Nobu refuses to attack the one who turned him. Nobu has no choice, so he uses his Shotgun card on the player previously beaten by Kazuya. On the way back, another player forces Nobu into a game and gives him a Zombie card.
When Ikeno finds out that some players are hiding their infection, he orders to search for all the suspicious ones, including Nobu. Arisu comes up with a plan to turn the tide: since the zombies are likely going to win, he instructs Nobu to find the rest of their team members and ensure that they are all infected. Sachiko, Shion, and Natsu follow the strategy, and Nobu searches for Tetsu while Arisu proceeds to play against Rei, who has managed to trick Ikeno into wasting his Shotgun card.
When Arisu finds Rei, he breaks down her strategy and reveals that she has never been a zombie, but she is now thanks to him. While searching for Tetsu, Nobu is confronted by Kazuya, who is eventually forced into playing against him. Nobu wins with a Zombie card, and Kazuya screams in frustration, but Nobu explains that it is the only way they can all survive.
The game ends, and the results are announced: only 13 people remain human, so the zombies have won. The humans, including Ikeno and his allies, are shot down. Natsu invites Rei to join their group, and they all leave the game venue.
At the same time, Usagi and Ryuji join the game, Rhythm. They have to avoid being cut through by flying colored lasers, which they succeed in doing. Flashbacks reveal that Banda instructed Ryuji to bring Usagi to the Borderlands in order to lure Arisu there. Usagi had dreams of her father and wished to see him, so she agreed to Ryuji's plan.
The duo advances to the next game, "Runaway Train". They listen to the rules and put on gas masks, injecting the first canister of neutralizing agent for the poison gas. Throughout the game, they try different strategies, such as attempting to guess the type of train cars, or simply trusting their instincts and keeping the masks off. They succeed up to car 6, but their strategy is suddenly rendered useless, so they decide to take a chance. Despite the desperate prayers, the guess is wrong, and they are now left with one oxygen canister and two poisoned train cars ahead.
