Season 2, Episode 3 is the third episode of the second season of Alice in Borderland, and the eleventh episode overall.

Synopsis[]

With only a few minutes left in the game, the results for each team seem fixed; Arisu approaches Kyuma and asks to shake his hand.

Plot[]

Tatta's past is revealed. He worked as a car mechanic but was dissatisfied with his job, putting minimal effort into his work and neglecting proper safety measures. However, while one of his colleagues, Kato, was working underneath a car, the jack that Tatta placed incorrectly fell over, crushing Kato and gravely injuring his hand. This incident caused Tatta a great amount of guilt, where he swore to do his job right in the future.

In the present day, Arisu stops Niragi from trying to rape Usagi, throwing him to the ground and beating him in anger. Arisu carries Usagi back to his base, leaving her to lie on the ground unconscious. Still, his team is left with little hope, as Niragi and Kuina both wait for their deaths.

Arisu then meets with Kyuma at the harbour shore. After having a brief and amicable conversation, Arisu tricks Kyuma into shaking his hand. Although Kyuma thought he would win as he had more points, he finds, to his horror, that Arisu has more points than him. Arisu reveals that earlier, he helped Tatta crush his hand by slamming a door into it. This allowed Tatta to remove the bracelet for Arisu to carry. Because this was not forbidden in the rules, Arisu could conceal the second bracelet, allowing him to have the combined points to battle Kyuma.

With this, Arisu's team steals 500 points from the King of Clubs team, giving them just enough points to win before the timer runs out. Kyuma accepts his defeat, declaring that he has no regrets before he is killed and his body falls into the sea. Goken, Takumi and Uta also accept their fates, thanking Kyuma before they are killed. As the King of Clubs has been won, the blimp carrying its banner combusts and falls into the sea. Tragically, however, Tatta succumbs to his injuries, and his body was buried shortly after the game was won.

Nightfall arrives and the Jack of Hearts game starts at Teio Prison, which Chishiya participates in. In this game, titled "Solitary Confinement," players are fitted with a collar containing a card suit on the back that they cannot see. Each round, players must guess their suit by asking other players to see and tell them their suit. However, the Jack of Hearts is among the players, meaning players could easily eliminate each other by lying to them about their suit, causing them to guess wrong and be killed. The game progresses until the Jack of Hearts is eliminated; food is provided and the visas are frozen, meaning this game could last indefinitely.

Immediately after the game commences, a girl named Aramaki forms an alliance of players to tell each other their suits. During the first round, all players are honest with each other and all players survive. However, during the second round, a thug named Kiriu extorts another player into telling him his suit. As revenge, the player lies about Kiriu's suit, causing him to guess the wrong suit and be killed. With this, Aramaki begins to start lying to the players about their suit, causing them to rapidly be eliminated and killed. So, during the ninth round, a few players lie about Aramaki's suit, causing her to be killed as well.

The game progresses. Eventually, Chishiya's companion, Ippei, forfeits and quits the game, being killed in his cell. At the end of the episode, only five players including Chishiya remain.
