Episode 2 Season 3 is the second episode of the third season of Alice in Borderland and the eighteenth episode of the series overall.
Synopsis[]
The first game begins at a shrine. Arisu and the other players must solve math problems on the fly before everything goes up in flames.
Plot[]
As the players gather in the mysterious game venue, tension builds when the rules of the "Sacred Fortunes" game are revealed: they must answer questions correctly to survive. Tetsu, behaving erratically and drawing suspicion for being under the influence, volunteers to go first and draws a "Great Blessing", so nothing bad happens, but Kazuya insists that it does not guarantee their overall safety. The optimism of the others quickly fades when a wrong answer triggers a barrage of flaming arrows, killing participants and causing chaos. Arisu's memories of his previous arrival at the Borderlands slowly return.
Sachiko prays before drawing "Middle Blessing", but miscalculates a probability question, while Shion struggles with a riddle and suffers an arrow wound in the leg when Natsu's mistake unleashes hundreds more. Tetsu saves Shion from the flames and treats her injury. Masato attempts to help the others with several questions, but repeatedly guesses wrong, including answering his own, while Nobu panics.
As the devastation escalates, Arisu searches for an escape, and the group works together to discover the safe direction. They lift a heavy stone, find a hidden tunnel, and clear the game. As they leave the venue, the instructions for the next challenge are already waiting for them, as well as a giant Joker card floating in the sky. Later, in a temporary shelter, the survivors reflect on their near-death experiences and the mysterious Joker cards they all received.
The next challenge, "Zombie Hunt", begins at sundown. Players enter a research facility and meet other participants. The rules are explained, and multiple rounds of mini-games begin. Players attempt to search for strategies, but Zombie cards keep multiplying, and the choice is either to kill their holders with Shotgun cards, or to cure them with Vaccine cards. The amount of Shotgun cards is equal to the amount of players, while the Vaccine cards are rare and limited. Rei, a mysterious new player, suggests a clever strategy of isolating the zombies and promising them a cure.
