Collars (首輪, Kubiwa) are items that appear in the Alice in Borderland series. They are used during various games to either blow up a player who has lost, or to terminate a Dealer in case of the players' team victory.
Overview[]
The collars are thick metal devices loosely wrapped around the players' necks. The automatic locking mechanism is located at the front, disallowing the removal of the collar before the game is cleared. If the participant receives GAME OVER, the collar explodes. Right before detonating, the small light on the collar flickers red, and the collar makes an alarming sound.
Appearances[]
The collars have been used in the following games:
- Five of Spades — on Horse Head's neck; detonates after the players have received GAME CLEAR.
- Seven of Hearts — all the participants equip an explosive collar before the beginning of the game; three out of four collars detonate at the end of the game if one player receives GAME CLEAR, or all four detonate if it is GAME OVER for the players.
- Jack of Hearts — the collars are slightly larger and equipped with a small screen, as serve an additional purpose: they display a card suit on the back of each player's neck. This corresponds with the main task of the game, which is to guess your card suit correctly in order to survive and clear the game. The collar detonates if a player gives a wrong answer or refuses to give one.
- Jack of Diamonds — all the participants equip an explosive collar before the beginning of the game.
- "Future Sugoroku" — all the participants equip an explosive collar before the beginning of the game; the collars detonate if the number of points on a player's wristband reaches zero. Unlike wristbands, which can function without being directly attached to the player's body, collars need to be equipped to operate.
