"Nine of Hearts, Part 11" (ハートの 9 パート 11, Hāto no 9, Pāto 11) is the sixth chapter of the second volume and the 11th chapter overall of the Alice in Borderland RETRY manga, written and illustrated by Haro Aso.
Summary[]
The chapter begins with a flashback of Kitou helping the victims of the Tokyo Meteorite Disaster eight years prior. A little girl was laying on a bed, covered in severe burns, and her mother asked when the doctors could take care of her. Kitou coldly explained that the girl had a black triage tag, meaning her chances of survival were slim, and the doctors had to prioritize other patients. The mother screamed in tears calling Kitou a murderer. Later, his co-worker praised his work and insisted on doctors being unable to save everyone.
Back in he game, the clock starts beeping, as there are only three minutes left to hide. Kitou reiterates that he refuses to listen to Arisu's pointless deductions and admits that he cannot think about the chance that everyone could have survived because three lives have already been taken. He insists that he is a doctor so he can save dozens and hundreds of lives in the future, which will allow him to repay for the lives lost in the "alien invasions". Despite Kitou's speech and his clear intention to survive the game alone, Arisu transfers his "DEATH" card to the corpse's phone and a "LIFE" card to Kitou. Himari picks up on the plan and gives a "LIFE" card to Arisu. Kitou explains his plan to survive in Hall 6 once again, but Arisu points out that Himari may simply refuse to give him a "LIFE", since she would die either way, making them both receive a GAME OVER. Arisu admits that all the tactics used from the very beginning were wrong, and the true way of clearing the game has always been collaboration with the other players. Now the only chance to survive is to let the fake corpse's phone receive the remaining "DEATH" card and exchange "LIFE" cards so that all three can proceed to the last room.
