Alice in Borderland Wiki

Alice Kojima (小島 亜里朱, Kojima Arisu) is the protagonist of Alice on Border Road. She is the Queen of Hearts (ハートのクイーン, Hāto no Kuīn) in the Borderland.

Appearance[]

Alice is a young girl with blue eyes and long black hair that reaches down to her elbows. She wears a sailor fuku school uniform consisting of a white blouse attached with a sailor collar along with a red ribbon tie, a black pleated miniskirt, navy knee-length stockings, and black boots.

History[]

Alice was a high schooler in Tokyo and participated in the softball team representing her school. Because of her and her senpai's excellent performance, their team had won the semi-final in the previous high school tournament. However, just before the final match, their coach was reported by the media to be involved in sexual harassment, and their team was disqualified from participating in the final match. Many disappointed teammates immediately left the team. Alice was able to get back on her feet and prepare for the next tournament to honor her graduated senpai.

Two days before her scheduled away match in Kyoto, she was crossing Nihonbashi intersection without realizing Mikihiro Tomi's truck was crashing towards her, resulting in her and her fellow victims entering the Borderland.

Etymology[]

  • Similar to Ryohei Arisu, the protagonist of the previous story, her alias is a reference to the main character "Alice" in Alice in Wonderland.
    • The name Alice means "noble, exalted" or "of nobility" in Old German / French / English / Italian / Portuguese.
    • If written in Japanese, it can mean "second, Asia" (亜) (a), "village" (里) (ri) and "vermilion red" (朱) (su).
  • Alice's surname Kojima means "small" (小) (ko) and "island" (島) (shima/jima).
